On the topic of Alexis Sanchez, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola did say recently that his club would hold some internal meetings. Now they are reportedly holding some external meetings, with the forward’s current club, Arsenal. The two members of the Premier League big six negotiated for the Chilean during the summer transfer window, but did not come close to getting a deal to a point where it would have been over the line in time before deadline day.
Now, with the January transfer window wide open, things might work out.
Goal is reporting that the two sides are in talks, but about £10 million apart on price.
The Gunners are resigned to losing Alexis in January and have informed City that they want around £35 million for the Chilean.
City are unwilling to match that amount but sources have told Goal that the Premier League leaders are hopeful they can avoid a repeat of the protracted summer saga by tying up a deal long before the transfer deadline at the end of this month.
The report goes on to say that City are looking to spend £25 million on the scorer instead. At this point, given the historical run of form that Manchester City is on, why would you tinker with anything that’s pretty much flawless so far? Well, the injury to Gabriel Jesus kind of opened up the door to a January deal getting done, and given the Gunners’ situation, he would be available at a cut rate.
