Remember when Arsene Wenger and Arsenal were sitting at the top of the Premier League table in mid-January? Remember when the Gunners had a legitimate title shot, and Champions League was all but guaranteed? Well as you know, the injury bug bit hard and Wenger’s side fell down quite a bit. Arsene Wenger infamously said that finishing fourth was as good as a trophy, and it looks like Arsenal will achieve that as Everton feel at Goodison Park today to Manchester City.
So if that’s the silverware….I guess that’s wrapped up and it’s time to look ahead to the summer transfer window.
Arsene Wenger has a prolific history on his Managerial resume, but he’s gone nine years without a trophy, and many Arsenal supporters aren’t putting up with it any longer. Another fruitless season and the North London side’s board may want to jettison him. So it’s time for some overhaul this summer. Some big change….or not.
According to reports in the Daily Mirror: Wenger says he will only make “two or three” signings this summer, and simply wants to strengthen rather than rebuild. According to The Guardian, Wenger has ruled out selling Lukas Podolski and Thomas Vermaelen.
