Whether they discuss it publicly or not, footballers are well aware of what’s being written about them. This is especially true with transfer rumors. Some take pride in being coveted by other clubs, others laugh at the “fake news” quotient that is often present in many of these stories. With all transfer rumors, it’s deeply personal for the individual player being discussed and sometimes the club leadership will step in as a response.
Such is the case with Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin and club Owner Stan Kroenke. According to a report by Spanish radio station Cadena SER, Kroenke made a personal call to Bellerin, telling him to stay put because he simply isn’t going anywhere.
Bellerin, who had a down year at the Emirates this past season, has been linked with a return to his native Spain. Barcelona, the same city where Hector Bellerin recently just bought a house, is the primary club that had been coming up consistently in these reports. Bellerin left Barcelona’s academy to join Arsenal in 2013, and a return to his boyhood club is reportedly something that he would be very keen on.
Despite losing his place in the first team down the stretch last season, Arsenal are committed to the right back, who is signed until 2023. According to reports, Barcelona are unwilling to meet the high price slapped on Bellerin by the Gunners, which The Sun claims is £45 million.
