Arsenal FC have hit a bit of a rough patch lately. Losers in four of their last six, the two victories they actually manage came over much lower division foes Sutton United and Lincoln City in the FA Cup. Now the Gunners find themselves with just the sixth best Champions League qualification odds of the top Premier League clubs.
In other words, they are very likely to finish sixth this season, and if that happens, shake-ups are very much in order.
Is Leicester City Kasper Schemeichel the answer?
Well goalkeeping is one of Arsenal’s biggest issues right now with Petr Cech having a much worse season this year than he did last campaign. Not to mention he’s 34 and won’t be the long term answer anyway. His back-up, David Ospina, hasn’t been able to unseat Cech and he may be looking for a new destination where he could be the everyday #1.
The Sun claims that Arsenal are interested in acquiring Kasper Schmeichel writing that:
Schmeichel was named as the Danish Footballer of the Year for a second consecutive campaign, and is closing on 250 appearances for Leicester.
Wenger could be set to sign a new deal to extend his stay at the Emirates in the summer, and he is willing to bring in the former Leeds star to start a new era at the club.
The Foxes have had a rough title defense, about as awful as possible actually, but Schmeicel has been a supreme highlight for them.
