Arsenal FC forward Alexis Sanchez was utilized in the product rollout for the club’s alternate kit, an eye-catching black and hot pink number, two weeks ago. That of course invited some speculation on his future with the club at that time. Today, the Chilean’s future at the Emirates was speculated upon again as the away kit was rolled out and he was not a part of the promotional content.
Not to worry though as the club announced today Sanchez will be at the training ground with the team, despite not having reached a contract extension.
The club’s official site said that Sanchez, on delayed holiday due to an extended tour of international duty with Chile in the Confederations Cup, will be back with the club training on Sunday.
“Alexis and Mustafi, their first training session will be on Sunday, the day we play against Sevilla [in the Emirates Cup],” Arsene Wenger told Arsenal Player. “They are practising on the day.”
“First of all you make a really good check up of where they are, how much they have worked during their break. After, once you know where you stand, they need an adjusted programme and to see how quickly you can fit them in again.
“Of course it depends as well on what is the need in the squad, what is their quality. All of these things together make your decision. Do you put them on the bench when they are not ready [to start]? It is easier to put a striker on the bench than a defender, sometimes. Because in a short period they can make an impact. We’ll see.”
Well this should calm down Alexis Sanchez transfer narratives…at least in the short term. As long as he’s out of contract it won’t be long until the transfer gossip heats up again soon.
