Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera was the teams’s player of the year last season, but this campaign has seen a major drop in playing time.
Both Herrera and his countryman, fellow midfielder Juan Mata, have been linked with moves away from Old Trafford this summer, but it’s been reported that both Spaniards want to stay and that both will have the ultimate say so over their respective club futures.
United exercised a club option on Ander Herrera that will keep him at Old Trafford until 2019, but after that, it’s all up for grabs. Herrera admitted to Mundo Deportivo that he doesn’t know if he will stay at Manchester United beyond his current deal.
“I’m going to fulfill the year I’ve got left but I don’t know if I will renew,” the former Athletic Bilbao man who moved over in 2014 said.
“We have started talks but nothing is decided yet.”
He doesn’t seem at all like someone who is looking to change clubs right now. Certainly, his public statements sound like someone who is very happy where he is right now.
“I’m privileged because I dedicate myself to what I dreamed of when I was very young,” said Herrera.
