With Zlatan Ibrahimovic out, Manchester United definitely need a new star striker to come in. Apparently, it’s Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata.
The Spaniard returned to Real Madrid from Juventus on a £25 million buyback option. In the past couple years he’s been linked to several clubs, including Arsenal and Liverpool. This past summer, Chelsea were linked with a big money move for the very well regarded option in the final third. The Blues were considering Morata has potential replacement for Diego Costa one day, should the polarizing forward be on his way out.
Don’t forget the big money players in China (or at POTUS 45 calls it “GHYNNA!!”)- those clubs have been showing interested too, and possess the ability to match anyone’s salary. However it appears that United and Jose Mourinho have won the Alvaro Morata sweepstakes, coming together with Real on a general agreement in principle.
Now it’s time to finalize the financials, and the contract details, according to the Telegraph:
As revealed by Telegraph Sport in April, United have made Morata their top target to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic and are close to clinching his signature.
It is understood Morata has agreed in principle to the terms that will be offered to him at United and the transfer is now in the hands of the two clubs.
Morata has told Real that he intends to leave and United hope a bid in the region of £60 million will be enough to get the transfer over the line.
The article goes on to state that Alvaro Morata hopes his getting regular first team football at Old Trafford will help him make Spain’s World Cup team. It’s a great transfer situation for him. He goes from the club named “the most powerful in the world” earlier this week, to the one named “wealthiest in the world.”
It’s win-win for everyone involved!
