Various reports indicate that Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette has completed his medical at Arsenal, thus solidifying the transfer to his new club. It’s not just any transfer either. According to The Guardian, the deal is for five years and it’s worth £52.7 million, breaking the Arsenal club record by more than £10 million.
The English publication writes that: “The 26-year-old striker, who has 11 France caps, is set to agree a five-year contract and, when the formalities are done, he will eclipse Mesut Özil as Arsenal’s most expensive signing. Özil joined from Real Madrid in 2013 for £42.5m.”
The paperwork is now done, putting the finishing touches and formalities on the transaction. Expect an announcement and unveiling by the club tomorrow.
Obviously, a big deal such as this, for a player at the same position at Alexis Sanchez, invites speculation that the Chilean could now be out the door. Sanchez said this past weekend that he himself knows his future, and where it lies, but he refused to share that during the media session.
Lacazette is one of the hottest topics in the football world right now, and Arsenal fans are going crazy about this deal on social media. Let’s take a look at what some of them are saying on Twitter about Lacazette.
