Embattled celebrity chef Paula Deen is losing sponsors and television gigs left and right. Paula Deen will no longer have her deal with Harrah’s Casino, which means she’ll lose her local restaurant in Joliet.
Caesars Entertainment Corporation (NASDAQ: CZR) just announced today it is parting ways with Paula Deen Enterprises (PDE). Caesars operates Paula Deen themed restaurants at four of its properties. Harrah’s Joliet will shortly change the name of the outlet to The Restaurant at Harrah’s. The outlet will remain open, business as usual, and all coupons will be honored.
“While we appreciate Paula’s sincere apologies for statements she made in her past that she recently disclosed during a deposition given in response to a lawsuit, after thoughtful consideration of their impact, we have mutually decided that it is in the best interests of both parties to part ways at this time,” said Jan Jones Blackhurst, VP, Comm for Caesars.
“mutually decided”??? bbbabaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. They must think we’re pretty STUPID to believe that lie. “Yes, I’m sure Paula Deen and Caesars “mutually broke up.”
The Paula Deen backlash has been so great that she probably on the (ill) advice of her public relations team, backed out of an appearance on the “Today” show last Thursday. And then a mere hours after Paula Deen released You Tube videos of an apology Friday afternoon, the Food Network canned the Southern domestic diva.
Paula Deen has also lost an endorsement deal Monday with Smithfield Foods, a pork producing company that produced some hams with Paula Deen’s name on them. And the cable home shopping network, QVC, along with Kmart have not decided yet if they will drop Paula Deen. Both outlets sell Paula Deen cookware.
Paula Deen was on hand in April for the one-year anniversary of Paula Deen’s Kitchen at Harrah’s Casino in Joliet.
“Paula Deen Foods is a project we have been working on for two or three years and some of our products are already out,” Paula Deen told some local media at the anniversary party.
“I’m so excited, because I have the most incredible butters and iced teas and gooey butter cake mixes and fresh foods. I’m so excited.”
Not so much anymore.
