Nicole Kelly, the newly bestowed Miss Iowa, was born without a forearm. And today she’s a big time pageant winner. And no she doesn’t have a replacement forearm or prosthetic or anything like that. Nicole Kelly plans to use her crown to help champion rights for those with disabilities.

“As I grew up I learned to counterbalance the initial stares I received from people with an outgoing personality that would not give into ‘no,'” Kelly wrote on the pageant site. “This means that I tried everything.
