“Holly’s quickly become one of the sport’s most popular broadcasters among fans and players and her unique personality and passion for the game is evident every time she is on the air,” said a statement from Mark Loomis, Coordinating Golf Producer, FOX Sports.
She’s extremely popular on the world wide web, as search engine users frequently type in her name every time that she appears on television. It’s no secret that Holly Sonders is SEO gold.
Her eye-catching May 2013 photo spread in Golf Digest and her candid photos from her trip to Wrigley Field last year to take in a Chicago Cubs home game blew up the web servers. The most popular videos on the NBC family of websites are those featuring Sonders. Especially those of her photo shoots.
Now we’ll see now if that online popularity (it’s on a level comparable to Jenny Dell or Erin Andrews in her 2009-09 heyday) translates to added viewership. Like I said this is a huge step up for her. Fox is obviously a much bigger network than the Golf Channel.
“I am thrilled and honored to join the FOX Sports team and to be a part of their fresh, innovative approaches to the game of golf. I also look forward to contributing to its NFL coverage as well as other FOX Sports properties,” said Sonders in a statement prepared by the network.
Prior to the Golf Channel, she worked at from KATV in Little Rock, Ark., where she was a news and sports reporter. Holly Sonders also served as a sideline reporter for the Big Ten Network during the 2009 season. She began her career in sports television working for WBNS-10 TV in Columbus, Ohio. Sonders still competitively golfs today, participating in PGA TOUR pro-ams like the Humana Challenge and she frequently plays celebrity pro-ams.
