Britney Spears busted onto the scene in 1999 with a naughty schoolgirl themed music video (provocatively titled “Hit me baby 1 more time”) that made her this generation’s most famous symbol of a Lolita Complex.
Britney followed up her jailbait anthem with even sluttier imagery in her music videos “Don’t let me be the last to know” and “I’m a Slave for you.” You recall the bikini outside the jeans bit and her rolling around with some guy on the beach while wearing daisy dukes and a bikini top. And that’s totally cool if that’s the route you want to go. Not many men will argue against that. It’s very very lucrative.
However, the pop princess made some comments yesterday that makes it seem like she’s completely forgotten her very own recent past.
Britney Spears spoke to The TJ Show on AMP 103.3 in Boston Thursday and opened about her skanky music video for “Work Bitch,” claiming that sometimes she’s pushed too far to keep things edgy and provocative.
“A lot of sex goes into what I do. But sometimes I would like to bring it back to the old days when there was like one outfit through the whole video and you’re dancing the whole video, and there’s like not that much sex stuff going on,” Britney Spears said sounding like a drunk sorority girl or high on something Valley Girl.
“It’s about the dance, and it’s about being old-school. It’s like keeping it real and just making it about the dance. I’d love to do a video like that.”
Tell us again Britney Spears how these videos below are “kicking it old school?”
Why is this “all about the dance?”
Her comments are unintentionally hilarious. Britney Spears must be the least self-aware person in human history. How were those endeavors expressing yourself through the art of dance?
Britney Spears noted that although “Work Bitch” includes skimpy outfits, provocative dance moves and whips, she had to cut some of the original steamy scenes to protect her image. Which is laughable because her image is her image. But I get it, she’s 31 now and a mom, so she’s naturally getting more socially conservative. As we all do.
Here’s Britney Spears “Work Bitch,” judge for yourself:
