South Carolina Gamecocks football is pretty irrelevant right now. Especially when you consider what a great season they had to build off of in 2013. Last year, South Carolina finished with the highest ranking in school history in the AP poll, ranked at #4 in the country. With an 11-2 record, big things were expected. Which makes the 4-5 record even more of a let down.
Of course, most people outside the Palmetto state, and absolutely no one outside of SEC country has been paying attention to them.
So when Spurrier lost a heart-breaker in overtime 45-42 yesterday to Tennessee, and his full statement afterward lasted all of 54 seconds, it didn’t cause much a national stir. It shows you Steve Spurrier is nowhere near as important as he used to be.
It is very weak on The Visor’s part to not face the music though. Taking no questions from the media? That’s Bush League. Go out and face the music. You’re paid the big bucks Steve Spurrier. With a great salary and great power within the Carolinas comes great responsibility. Face up to it.
Here’s video of the Steve Spurrier presser:
