We’ve redone our college football rankings for 2013. And I’ve also decided to trim some of the fat from these rankings. Due to lack of interest, the 77 in 77 has now become the 51 in 51. That means 51 team previews in 51 days. Why 51? It’s the number of Dick Butkus, the greatest linebacker in NFL and college football history. From…The University of Illinois, my alma mater. Also played for the Chicago Bears and Chicago Vocational High School.
51 is also Pat Fitzgerald a tremendous college football linebacker in his own right. Also, local interest as he’s built up the Northwestern program to heights it has never seen. And Northwestern is also where he was two time national college football defensive player of the year.
