The college football Final Four is set for this year. The Alabama Crimson Tide will meet the Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC Title Game, but it’s a play-in game for the BCS National title. The winner gets Notre Dame.
Both crushed their in-state rivals Saturday.
With the Alabama win in the 77th Iron Bowl, the Crimson Tide is now 42-34-1 against Auburn. Alabama’s 42-0 halft ime lead is the largest halftime lead by either team in the history of the Iron Bowl series. The previous largest halftime lead achieved by either team was a 34-point margin by Auburn in 1957, a 34-0 halftime lead on the way to a 40-0 Tiger victory.
Said Alabama coach Nick Saban:
It’s a great opportunity to play a really good team in the University
of Georgia in the SEC Championship game. To me, in all those
games that I’ve been a part of, they are about as good as any
game in the country other than the national championship
game. Georgia has a really good team and is playing really
well right now. I don’t know how they did today, but it will
be a great opportunity for our players to have a chance to play
against a really good team for the SEC Championship.”
