Purdue Boilermakers quarterback David Blough was the Big Ten Conference Leader in touchdown passes and passing yards per game last season. Not many people know that, and perhaps you had to read that sentence two or three times before it truly sunk in. For his final year in West Lafayette, Blough will be coached by Jeff Brohm, an offensive guru and former NFL quarterback.
Brohm played for six different teams during his seven year NFL career, and he’s been a QB coach at five different institutions.
Thus he brings a track record and resume which, when you combine it with Blough’s potential, should have fans in “the cradle of quarterbacks” salivating. Well, at least when you’re focusing in on the passing offense statistics.

We have audio of David Blough during his podium session at B1G Media Day embedded for you here below, via Sound Cloud. Blough covered a multitude of topics, including: the legends he sees on the walls of the quarterbacks room, “speaking Brohm,” having a Texas high school football mom, how Brohm’s offense is a “quarterback’s dream” and how his system gels with his skill set.
However, the best part of this, in my humble opinion, is when he discusses the time he came into Coach Brohm’s office and saw his air mattress on the floor. This was three months into the job. Why? For pretty much the same reasons that Brohm drives the car (a 2004 Honda Accord with close to 200,000 miles on it) that he does…
…despite the fact that his annual compensation has the potential to exceed $4.8 million.
