Michigan State nose tackle Micajah Reynolds helped save the life of a man who sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Reynolds was on his way home when he was flagged down by an 18 year old Lansing male who collapsed to the ground. The Michigan State senior DL held the man and applied pressure to his wounds while waiting for paramedics.
Reynolds said he was driving home when he turned his vehicle around to aid the victim of three gunshot wounds.
“The streets were pitch-black, and nobody was around in the street late at night,” Reynolds said to M Live. “He was bleeding out all over me. It was wild.
“I’m trying to keep him awake the whole time. He’s telling me, ‘I’m going to die. It’s over.’ I’m like, ‘Bro, you’re sitting here talking to me. You’re going to be OK.’ I was trying to downplay it, but it was pretty bad.”
The teenager lost an eye, but is fully expected to survive from the incident.
Michigan State defensive coordinator Pat Narduzzi tweeted the next day that the 6-5, 307 lineman was “a great Samaritan. Saved somebody’s life!” Police said last week the suspect in the shooting during a possible robbery is described as a 20-year-old man about 5-foot-10 with a heavier build, last seen wearing a red shirt and dark jeans.
Those with information on this incident are asked to call the Lansing Police Department’s Crime Stoppers line at 517-483-STOP. Anonymous tips can be submitted to the department via text message at 847411. Begin the message with “LPD517,” then text your tip.
