Michigan State signee Joshua Langford likes the odds of top rated recruit Josh Jackson committing to Michigan State.
“I like the odds a lot, but I know Josh is going to make the best decision for him,” Langford told The Sports Bank.
“And I’m not the guy who’s going to pressure him into a decision, cuz I know that he knows what he’s doing. His mother is a great person in his life and supports him and teaches him how to make decisions, I think he’s going to make a great decision and I support him one-hundred percent,” Langford said.
Although Langford is very positive about the Spartans’ chances of landing Jackson, it might not be a good sign that he mentioned Jackson’s mother, as she supposedly is not in favor of her son committing to Michigan State.
That’s the latest buzz among media at the McDonald’s All-American Game, but, as you would with all recruiting indicator news, take it with a grain of salt. Where, when and why a kid commits is an extremely fluid situation, and it usually makes interpreting recruiting “news” a somewhat wild and unpredictable process.
However, it’s not disputable, and very well known, just how much influence Jackson’s mother has on him, and thus on his decision. That’s true for almost everybody; no matter what age we reach, we still want to do our parents right and proud.
Jackson, (profiled here at this link), said after the game that he hasn’t set an announcement date, but indicated that it would likely come after the Jordan Brand Classic, and probably take place at home with family and friends.
Joshua Langford is very high on the Spartans class as it currently stands, as he should be. Only Duke and Kentucky have a higher rated class of incoming freshmen.

“We have a great class, a very balanced out class, I feel like we’re coming into a good situation because we have a lot of guys who have already made a national championship run, been to the tournament and they know what it takes. They know how to deal with Coach Izzo,” said Langford.
“They know what we have to do and we’ll have somebody to look to,” he said regarding all the experience and depth that returns to East Lansing next year.
Rivals ranks Langford #18 overall, 24/7 Sports has him #19, and ESPNU has him #14. Langford is joined at the McDonald’s All-American Game by future teammate Miles Bridges (profiled here at this link), who’s rated the 9th best prospect in the nation by 24/7, 11th by Scout. ESPNU has him 6th. NBA Draft.Net has him projected to be the 25th overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft.
Langford, a 6-5 shooting guard from Madison, Alabama is great at attacking the rim, both in half-court and in transition. He’s a fantastic rebounder at both ends of the floor, and he possesses the ability to defend all three perimeter positions.
We asked Joshua Langford what he brings to #TheClass with his specific skill set.
“I personally, feel like I’m a great play-maker, defensively, offensively, I feel like I can make the players around me better, I feel I can excel in pick-and roll situations, but I think I still need to work on my jump shot.”
Langford had 12 points and 2 assists in the All-Star showcase while Bridges had 8 and 3, to go along with 3 rebounds.
