The Duke Blue Devils, in conjunction with their Digital Media Partner NeuLion, launched an official iPad application for their website GoDuke.com. They’re the first ACC team to do this- launch an app featuring live video for all their sports. But obviously, most users will download the app for college basketball. It will feature on-demand video, news, scores, schedules, photo galleries, and live stats from all home games.
To learn more about the official Duke iPad app, search “GoDuke” in the App Store.
Also new to GoDuke Inside Access account holders is on demand content featuring condensed games and full game replays for all men’s basketball and football games.
“Duke fans will now be able to watch Blue Devils men’s and women’s basketball live in High Definition on either their PC or iPads. This speaks volumes to the progressive vision of their athletic department,” said NeuLion Vice President Ed O’Brien.
The official iPad app launch complements the overall digital media strategy. Duke has produced device specific apps with the iPhone, Android and now the iPad. Blue Devils fans can listen to live audio on all mobile and tablet devices as well as their PC. Planning for additional connected devices to expand the network is in motion.
Shifting to on the court news, Seth Curry, a junior from Charlotte, N.C., joins senior Miles Plumlee and junior Ryan Kelly as team captains for the 2011-12 season.
“We knew going into the season that the leadership would be fluid,” said Krzyzewski. “We thought after practices started that Seth would emerge as a leader. He is showing some really good leadership and he deserves this. The leadership of our team is more of a team concept with Miles, Ryan and Seth. I think this will help make us a better team.”
Curry, a preseason All-ACC selection, is Duke’s leading returning scorer. Last year, Curry was named ACC All-Tournament last season after averaging 10.9 points, 2.0 assists and 1.5 steals as Duke claimed its third consecutive ACC Championship.
The Blue Devils open the season Friday, Nov. 11 with a Maui Invitational game against Belmont at Cameron Indoor Stadium; televised by ESPNU.
