(UPDATE: Monday January 11th, it’s official now)
Chicago Bears Quarterbacks Coach Dowell Loggains is the heir apparent to Adam Gase at the position of offensive coordinator. We all knew Adam Gase was leaving to take a Head Coaching gig since, approximately, November.
Today, the Miami Dolphins made it official. However, the Bears have been planning for this day for a very long time. You know the journalism 101 rule about two sources. ESPN’s Adam Schefter Tweeted that out the following this morning:
Bears QB coach Dowell Loggains is now considered the leading candidate to replace Adam Gase as Chicago's offensive coordinator, per sources.

So that’s one. Here comes two. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport on the NFLN pregame show today-
“They are firmly committed to Jay Cutler next year and potentially beyond as their franchise quarterback. Plus, they have a quarterbacks coach in Dowell Loggains who’s very close to Cutler who is viewed inside the building as the heir apparent at offensive coordinator. I would not be surprised if they simply promoted from within and kept continuity.”
So yet another new OC for Cutler to work with!
Dowell Loggains will become the sixth Bears Offensive Coordinator in the past eight seasons. So huzzah for consistent turnover! Loggains served in this role from 2012-13 with the Tennessee Titans. In 2014, his gig was Cleveland Browns quarterbacks coach.
