No Michael Bennett, No probl…okay, there is a problem, but we’ll look at Chicago Bears free agency targets at the DL position in a post later today.
This is the CB Chicago Bears free agency landscape.
Cornerbacks:
Peanut Tillman- word is his market value hinges on his ability to convert to safety or not. Or if Charles Tillman even wants to do. He says he wants to come back. We’ll see if the “invisible hand” of the “free market” allows that to happen or not.
Aqib Talib- substantial off the field issues, red flags. Can certainly cover and tackle though that’s for sure. He’s been vocal about how he wants to “get paid like a top corner.” So who’s going to way overpay for Talib? Daniel Snyder of course! Rumor has it he’s very likely headed to D.C.
Vontae Davis- may likely stay with the Indianapolis Colts, and demand more money than the just re-signed Brent Grimes at the same position. Could join another former Illini corner, Kelvin Hayden, if he comes to Chicago.
CB Terrell Brown– fired his agent after he missed out on a $2 million salary increase. His agent overlooked a clause in his contract regarding offseason workouts. Brown told the media yesterday that nothing is happening in contract talks with the Niners. So I guess his new agent will be fielding offers from other teams.
“Does he fit into your system? One size does not fit all,” said ESPN Analyst and for Indianapolis Colts GM Bill Polian on conference call the other day in reference to Brown.
“And system fit will determine his market value”
Well, Brown can cover people and tackle them, unlike most of the Bears corners behind Tim Jennings, Zack Bowman and Peanut Tillman. And Tillman is likely to move on, so yes Mr. Polian, I’d say he fits the system!
Alterraun Verner- not happening. Every team wants him and it looks like he’s a done deal to the Detroit Lions.
