Brian Urlacher lands TV Broadcast gig

Brian Urlacher couldn’t reach a deal this summer with the Chicago Bears, or any other NFL team for that matter, but he did land a television broadcasting job. Urlacher turned down the small offer the Bears presented him, but no other team was willing to match or outspend Chicago for #54.

Now he gets to critique and cover the very team that didn’t want him back for a 15th season.

Brian Urlacher will be part of the Fox Football Daily on Fox Sports 1, joining Curt Menefee, Jay Glazer, Ronde Barber and others. The show will go head-to-head against ESPN Sportscenter beginning 5 pm CDT on August 19th. Urlacher had appeared on Fox 32 Chicago “The Final Word,” a local Sunday night highlights program, for many years.

According to a co-host on tonight’s episode of that very show, Lou Canellis, Urlacher turned down an offer from the NFL Network in order to sign with Fox Sports 1, which premieres on August 17th.

Fox Sports 1 has signed quite a few of former big name athletes as on-air talent, with Gary Payton being the biggest name. Until now. Obviously, Brian Urlacher is a much bigger deal.

But I implore you to watch the Fox Sports 1 promo featuring the very pulchritudinous young soccer stryker Alex Morgan.

You can see the Morgan video here.
