Both Jose Mourinho and Chelsea inspire a lot of backlash, giving their elite status as a giant big money global club. Therefore, their season of hell is making for extreme schadenfreude among non Chelsea fans and Mourinho haters. Following the latest setback tonight versus Leicester City, the Blues have fallen all the way down to 16th.
The defending champions are astoundingly close to the relegation zone.
They are just one point above the pace of being dropped. Chelsea already have nine losses on the season, as many as the last two seasons combined!
After the 2-1 defeat at the hands of the very surprising Foxes, Mourinho said that he believes his players have turned on him. So he then turned on them.
”If I was a player, I’d be giving a lot more,” Mourinho said postgame.
”All last season I did a phenomenal work and I brought them to a level that is not their level, it is more than they really are. I feel my work was betrayed.”
Mourinho conceded the Blues title chances a long time ago and tonight he admitted that their chances of qualifying for the Champions League are shot as well.
Mourinho said: ”We can’t finish top four, but we can still finish top six because so many teams are dropping points. But at the moment we’re in a zone where I feel ashamed.”
