Time to talk NU football. Yes, it’s not too early. Would you rather someone talk more Chicago Cubs storylines that have been BEATEN TO DEATH?  Yeah, the current Cubs are in last place, but they have best farm system in baseball…yeah, got it. We’ve heard that enough. Since Chicago sports talk radio pretty much never talks college football, or at least they never discuss Northwestern or the Illini…well, I talked some NU football on 1620 The Zone this morning.

Here’s the link to today’s segment: Hear my NU football analysis every Tuesday at 10:40 CDT on KOZN 1620 The Zone Omaha.

I also took some time to make fun of the college football preseason award watch lists that are mailed out. They are sent out as breaking “news.” Now I’m not coming down on the SIDs for this. Don’t shoot the messenger. The SID is not the one responsible for the abomination that is preseason award watch lists. It’s the Football Writers Association of America, they command the schools to send out these perfect examples of “the everyone gets a trophy” generation. CC Tom Izzo

Basically a preseason watch list, which are often 50-60 names long, are like freshmen college students being “pre-med” or “pre-law.”
