Here are teams 16-25 in my updated 2012-2013 preseason college basketball Top 25 and other teams who just missed the cut.
Bo Ryan and the Wisconsin Badgers are right for lifting restrictions on Jarrod Uthoff
In a story that no one imagined would be as national-centric as it has came to a friendly conclusion this afternoon.
Former Wisconsin Badgers basketball player, Jarrod Uthoff is now free to contact any school outside of the Big Ten Conference, including Iowa State, Marquette and the ACC conference which were previously placed on a restriction list.
Head Coach Bo Ryan, Associated Athletic Director Justin Doherty and Director of Athletics Barry Alvarez took part in an appeal process which is summarized below: [Read more...]

J.J. Watt’s brother also signs with Wisconsin Badgers
Wisconsin has it’s own version of the Plumlees. Like how all Plumlee brothers go to Duke, if you’re a Watt, you’re headed to Madison.
According to his Facebook page, and confirmed by a tweet from big brother J.J. Watt, Pewaukee junior tight end/defensive end T.J. Watt (6-4, 198) will be the third member of his family to play football for the University of Wisconsin.
First you had the NFL first round draft choice who’s been an impact player for the Houston Texans. Next you had the middle brother Derek Watt, who’s a current Badger. Now you’ve got a third member of the family.
Wisconsin Badgers new “free agent signing” at QB: Maryland’s Danny O’Brien
Fresh off the success of last year’s so-called “rent-a-player” or “free agent quarterback signing” Russell Wilson, the Wisconsin Badgers inked another prominent college football transfer: Maryland’s Danny O’Brien. The junior will have two years of eligibility in Madison beginning this fall.
They had been in the hunt for Notre Dame signal caller Dayne Crist, but he choose to follow the coach who recruited him, Charlie Weiss, to the Kansas Jayhawks instead. If O’Brien enjoys even a fraction of the success the last ACC transferdid (new NCAA record for single season passing efficiency, set in the Rose Bowl, greatest year by a quarterback in Badgers, Big Ten history), then this process will have been well worth it.
#1 Syracuse vs. #4 Wisconsin: everything you need to know
For the first time in program history, the Wisconsin Badgers are making back-to-back Sweet 16 appearances. In typical fashion, most critics were underestimating UW’s chances of advancing past the first weekend but Bo Ryan has done it again. The Badgers will match up with top seed Syracuse Thursday night in an East Regional game in Boston. Many were hopping off the Orange bandwagon after Fab Melo was suspended for the NCAA Tournament, but ‘Cuse avoided upset bids in the opening weekend to keep their dancing shoes shined.
Wisconsin Badgers clip the Commodores for a trip to the Sweet 16 (Rapid Reaction)
Thanks to some pesky defense against the #5 Vanderbilt Commodores, the #4 Wisconsin Badgers are Boston bound for their second trip to the Sweet 16 in the last two years.
Threes were flying from everywhere with the Badgers shooting a total of 33 shots from beyond the arc. They connected on ten of them, including three a-piece for guards Ben Brust and Jordan Taylor in a 60-57 win.
Next up for the Badgers is a date with the #1 Syracuse Orange-Men who played excellent zone defense in their defeat of Kansas State in the round of 32. [Read more...]
Everything you need to know about #4 Wisconsin vs. #5 Vanderbilt
After a Friday full of upsets, it’s safe to say that March Madness is in full swing. However, not so much in the East Region where the bracket has been all chalk.
One of Saturday’s most intriguing match-ups features the #4 Wisconsin Badgers and #5 Vanderbilt Commodores.
Contrasting styles should have the Badgers (25-9) and Commodores (25-10) battling it out all the way to the end. [Read more...]
