Pete Carroll, Charles Barkley, Mark Cuban Respond to Trump UGLINESS

pete carroll

Friday night Donald Trump held a campaign rally for an election that he already won 10 months ago. At the rally he called Colin Kaepernick, and other NFL players who don’t stand for the national anthem, “sons of bitches.”

Therefore he also called mothers of NFL players “bitches” in the process. Naturally and deservedly, he’s getting a ton of blowback for such hateful and divisive commentary. Chicago Bears Team Captain Akiem Hicks called Trump out on Saturday.

EXCLUSIVE: Lane Kiffin on Twitter Controversy, Why He Chose FAU over Bigger Programs

lane kiffin

Roughly a decade ago, Lane Kiffin became one of the youngest head coaches in NFL history at age 31 when he accepted the Oakland Raiders.

Since then he’s had short stints at Tennessee, USC and Alabama. After departing from the Crimson Tide earlier this year, Kiffin was offered a number of opportunities at powerhouse college football programs all across the country. Thus, many were a bit surprised when he chose Florida Atlantic University over the more brand name programs.

What made FAU more appealing? We asked Lane Kiffin this exact question during our exclusive with the Owls Head Coach.

ESPN 30 for 30: Top 20 of All Time List

christian-laettner

Rating the best films in the ESPN 30 for 30 series is a highly debatable endeavor, as there are so many great documentaries to choose from. Click the title where highlighted for a review/feature on that specific film.

A year ago, I would have told you that there’s Hillsborough, the college football docs, and then there’s everything else. Still true, except now there’s Laettner, which towers above everything else.

Khalil Mack Rise Accurately Predicted by Tony Gonzalez Two Years Ago

khalil-mack-raiders

(UPDATE: Saturday night saw Oakland Raiders Linebacker Khalil Mack win NFL Defensive Player of the Year. Back in August of 2015, The Sports Bank sat down with NFL Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez, and talked quite a bit about the Raiders, including a whole lot of conversation about the Raiders. We decided to re-publish that exclusive with Gonzalez, as he pretty much called the rise of Mack. See the quotes below)

Oakland Raiders AFC Wild Card Game Preview, Prediction

oakland-raiders
It’s quite rare to see a 12-4 team as underdogs to a 9-7 in a NFL playoff game, but that’s life with the Oakland Raiders sans Derek Carr. You saw Carr’s NFL MVP bonafides last week as you saw what Oakland degenerated into without him. Yes, the Houston Texans are favored over the Raiders, and by how much depends on who you do “for novelty purposes only” with.
The house always wins, but some houses are giving the Oakland Raiders +2.5 points while others are all the way up to a touchdown.

Can Connor Cook be the Oakland Raiders Savior?

connor-cook-2016-nfl-mock-draft

In the build-up to the 2016 NFL Draft, the narrative around Michigan State Quarterback Connor Cook paralleled a story line from the Kevin Costner film “Draft Day.”

The media just would not shut up about how Cook wasn’t named a team captain at MSU, and you could almost hear Costner’s character repeatedly asking, as he did in the film about the fictional blue chip prospect, “WHY DIDN’T HIS TEAMMATES COME TO HIS BIRTHDAY PARTY?!”

Oakland Raiders Officially “Back” (Playoff Berth, Seven Pro Bowlers)

oakland-raiders

It’s finally official now- the Oakland Raiders are truly “back.” At 11-3, with a postseason berth clinched, and now six Pro Bowlers, the Silver and Black, for the first time since the 2002 season, have once again “arrived.” Who better to announce the resurgence than the man who led that team to the AFC Championship that season, winning the league MVP honors that fateful season.

“They have been a legitimate contender for a while, said Rich Gannon on his weekly CBS Sports Network talk show this week.

“They have been pretty consistent throughout the course of the season…They’re playing terrific football. A lot of it has to do with the leadership of Jack Del Rio. The message to the football team in the locker room yesterday  really hit home to me.”
