Hulk Hogan’s Ex-Wife: Claims Hulk Extramarital Affair w/ Brutus Beefcake

brutus_beefcake_hulk-hogan

Usually we don’t do wrestling stories here. It’s not a sport. Of course, we’re all truly in the entertainment business, not the sports media business, cuz the sports media business doesn’t really exist; it’s all about ratings, numbers, viewers, page views, “infotainment” etc.

And wrestling probably embodies this best. Especially the WWF turned WWE. Notice it’s called World Wrestling “Entertainment.” It’s expected to be drama, gossip, and soap opera silliness, and now it’s spilling over to the legal and entertainment media worlds. And this story is too unique to just pass up doing a post on.

Hulk Hogan is currently embroiled in a bitter divorce (is there any other kind?) with ex-wife Linda Bollea.

And whatcha gonna do when possible defamation suits reign down on you?

Lessons Learned from Ultimate Fighter Finale

I had the privilege to watch the Ultimate Fighter finale over the weekend from the Palms. Witnessing these world class athletes in the octagon is a worthy culmination to season fourteen. Michael Bisping manhandled Jason “Mayhem” Miller in the final bout of the evening. The duo between the coaches made me ponder what is in store for fighters after their careers. I decided to provide some options for those who are in search of a second job opportunity.

Link Bank 11-23-11: Megyn Kelly, Miesha Tate vs. Rounda Rousey

megyn kelly

If you’re a regular watcher of The Daily Show, you probably know all about Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly. She’s a perfect example of the hot/crazy scale. The hotter a woman is, the more likely men will put up with their batsh** behavior and no one calls them out on their craziness. Therefore, they continue being crazy, because no one holds them accountable.

Maybe Kelly is more dumb than crazy. Here’s a petition from Change.org I signed, and I encourage you to do the same

Ms. Kelly, on November 21, you told Bill O’Reilly that pepper spray (as used by Lt. John Pike to assault the UC Davis protestors) is “a food product, essentially.” That was, of course, ridiculous.

While you allowed that the spray was “abrasive and intrusive”, you wondered if it had been diluted (reportedly, it hadn’t).

To back up your claim that pepper spray is a food product, please consume as much of it as was sprayed on each protestor’s face, in one sitting, on camera at Fox News.

Reminds me of the time that Mancow said “waterboarding is not torture,” let himself be waterboarded for the cameras, and didn’t last 5 seconds. And he admitted he was proven wrong.

Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather: Similar People

Floyd Mayweather recently defeated Victor Ortiz in a fourth round knockout at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Of course, the world is greatly anticipating a Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao fight in the near future.

Speculation is rampant on this topic and it may ultimately create a frenzy that could create a record pay day for both, no matter who wins. During the fight weekend, my mind was comparing Mayweather with Mike Tyson. The amount that they have in common is striking.

UFC & FOX Partnership Details Emerging

fox sports

The Ultimate Fighting Championship’s television deal with Fox, FX, and Fuel TV is set to last 7 years according to details of the arrangement publicized over the last few days. The new partnership will officially kick off with a November 12 fight card in Anaheim, California to be broadcast on FOX. The combatants who will represent the UFC will set the tone for the deal and also help the UFC make a major statement about the popularity of MMA compared to boxing. The show will air the same night Manny Pacquiao faces off with Juan Manuel Marquez as part of a Pay-Per-View boxing card from Las Vegas.

Five for Fighting: Georgetown Hoyas Brawl Needed these 5 People

The Big East is represented in China at the moment by none other than the Georgetown Hoyas. The supposed goodwill tour recently included a bench clearing brawl. This leaves a black mark for the moment on the university, but as usual John Thompson III has a measured response in not hastily cancelling future contests.

Some more muscle could have assisted the Hoyas in achieving greater success in the melee.

Iron Mike Tyson is a prime example of someone who could have taken care of business on the court with the frenzy. He does have a softer side now as a supposed family man, but he still has to be all kinds of crazy to have that kind of affection for pigeons. If I had that hobby, the last thing in the world that I would be looking to do is broadcast it to the world.

Here We Go Again With Floyd Mayweather

Floyd Mayweather Jr. is slated to fight Victor Ortiz on the weekend of Mexican Independence Day in September at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas. For those of you who are simply thinking that this is a tune up bout to get ready for Manny Pacquiao, you have another thing coming. I often write about athletes who are battling their own demons that are sometimes their biggest obstacles in life. Mayweather falls into this category.

Mayweather and Pacquiao to fight in Fall, but not vs. Each Other

Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao will be entering the ring later in 2011, but it won’t be against each other. The undefeated Mayweather (41-0, 25 KOs) recently announced on Twitter that he’s going to be taking on  WBC Welterweight Champion Victor Ortiz (29-2-2, 22 KOs) on Sept. 17, which is Mexican Independence Day weekend.

Pacquiao (52-3-2, 38 KOs) on the other hand, will be taking on Juan Manuel Marquez (52-5-1, 38 KOs) for the third time when they meet Nov. 12 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. They fought to a 12-round draw back in 2008 with Pacquiao winning the rematch by split decision.

How to Make Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather a Reality

Floyd Mayweather either lives in the perfect town for him, or he lives in the worst. He is a train wreck who cannot stay out of his own way and Las Vegas provides a perfect playground for his proclivities.

If he’s not allegedly running someone off the road in Chinatown, he’s spending his time fighting his homeowner’s association in Southern Highlands-with the possibility of firearms becoming involved. Taking care of his twenty-nine car fleet must take up a substantial amount of his attention, but the clock is ticking on his best years while he whittles away outside of the ring.

Manny Pacquiao is competing in a WBO welterweight title fight this weekend against Sugar Shane Mosely on the strip at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. I can’t recall two name fighters facing off in recent history with this much of a favorite in play.

How Underpaid are UFC Fighters? Boxers Getting a Better Deal?

It’s no secret that the UFC is raking in money hand over fist (see the CNBC documentary special “UFC: a fistful of Dollars” if you get a chance- it’s great), but where that money goes is actually apparent to no one. The mixed martial arts (MMA) company is selling out arenas all over the world. It just held its biggest ever promotion in North America on April 30th when it sold 55,724 seats at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada, for a live gate of $12.1 million.

Yet the fighters are still being paid peanuts when compared to other sports, especially boxing.

This has led Nick Diaz, who’s signed with Strikeforce, to say he wants to enter boxing to make some real money.

Get Your MMA On! Our Resident Ultimate Fighter Enters the Ring Wed Night

jason_moe_mma

I’ve always said that every family should have: a lawyer, doctor, mechanic, computer nerd, and a cop in it. That way you can pretty much be protected from every threat that life can throw at you. Because you have an expert in-house waiting to handle it.

Today, I think it’s time to include MMA fighter on that list. At least for me anyway, given some of the things I say about certain sports figures and their fans. When I look at some of the comments here at The Sports Bank- it’s probably a good idea I have someone who can defend me from potential physical harm.

And ready to inflict bodily harm Wednesday night is our in-house MMA fighter Jason Moe, interviewed here by Alexia Krause as he gets ready to enter the ring again.
