paris-saint-germain

Most people go to Paris and have some of the most memorable positive experiences of their lives. Of course, nearly every visitor to the city of light goes there for reasons other than to play professional football, and thus wouldn’t have the tumultuous stay that Paris Saint-Germain right back Serge Aurier has had.

Two days ago we learned that Aurier was a target of Manchester United. It turns out that Tottenham Hotspur and Inter Milan are keen on the 24-year-old as well. Reportedly, the young defender is thinking “Forget Paris” this summer transfer window (apologies to the name of the 1990s Billy Crystal RomCom).

Jose Mourinho Admits He Still Needs More in Summer Transfer Window

jose mourinho

Last night, following his side’s 2-0 win over Manchester City in the first Manchester Derby held outside England, United Manager Jose Mourinho shared many of his usual summer transfer window thoughts and feelings in this postgame news conference. He played all the greatest hits, but also presented an idea that hasn’t been previously heard all too much.

Manchester United looked every bit the part of a team with two preseason friendly victories under their belt taking on a bitter rival that hadn’t scrimmaged yet. Afterward, Mourinho reiterated how he really wants two more signings this summer, but will resign himself to the fact that he may only get one.

It’s the first ever Manchester Derby held outside of England, and one of the main storylines was the heat and humidity in Texas. PSG Defender Serge Aurier Reportedly Next Man United Transfer Target

psg

Just a couple days ago, Manchester United Manager Jose Mourinho expressed his dismay with how his club’s summer transfer window has gone. He said he was resigned to the fact that he will have to settle for only one more acquisition, not two before the deadline closes.

Who that one player will be, remains to be seen. Could it be Paris Saint-Germain defender Serge Aurier? The Independent seems to believe so, as United’s pursuit of Monaco man Fabinho seems to be going nowhere. Fabinho had previously said that he was “tempted” by the idea of moving to Old Trafford, but the Ligue 1 club is playing a little too much hardball with United during negotiations.

In the words of the Grateful Dead, “what a long strange trip its been.”

Chelsea FC have confirmed that a deal has been reached for Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata. Numerous outlets report that the deal, still subject to personal terms and passing a medical, is worth £70 million.

Jose Mourinho Seeking Sir Alex Ferguson Level Stability at United

sir-alex-ferguson

After Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013, Manchester United went two seasons without a trophy. They almost went a third, but Louis van Gaal was able to guide the club to a FA Cup triumph on May 21st, 2016 and the drought ended. Jose Mourinho became the first manager in club history to win a trophy during his first season on the job, and he actually claimed two (first Europa League title in club history, League Cup).

He really won two and a half, or three, depending on how you would label the Community Shield.

Jose Mourinho Says He’s Not Happy With United’s Summer Transfer Window

jose mourinho

For most football clubs, spending over £105 million to add new players constitutes a blockbuster summer transfer window. Obviously, most clubs aren’t Manchester United. Old Trafford spent £75 million, the fifth highest amount ever, on acquiring striker Romelu Lukaku from Everton. They spent another £30.75 million on signing central defender Victor Lindelof from Benfica.

For almost every club, either one of those transactions would absolutely shatter the franchise record for summer transfer window spending. At United, it’s about a lot more than just money though. Red Devils Manager Jose Mourinho has roster needs that still need to be filled, and he’s becoming increasingly pessimistic about completing his summer shopping list.

“I’m happy for my goal. There is still a lot of work to do, as a team we know we need to be much better,” he said.
