Heading into last night’s 2-0 win at Bournemouth, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho claimed that the midweek league clash would be an open tryout of sorts for the FA Cup semifinal versus Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley Stadium.

Don’t buy it; Mourinho will select his best team possible this weekend. He was always going to pick the best XI, regardless of who did what versus the Cherries. While there is reason to doubt the veracity of that Mourinho commentary, what he said after the match was definitely honest and spot on.

paul pogba dab great wall

Paul Pogba has certainly had an up and down couple of weeks recently. In the 3-2 Manchester derby win at the Etihad, he was arguably the most dominant player in the Premier League that week. In the 1-0 West Bromwich Albion loss this past weekend, the Frenchman was totally abominable. Tonight, in the 2-0 win at Bournemouth, he was again elite.

After the match, United manager Jose Mourinho had a lot of praise for Pogba, and he also defended his midfielder against the criticisms made by club legend Paul Scholes.

Manchester United have two stellar young forwards who just can’t seem to find regular, consistent first team football in Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford. Given how both players have loads of potential, but too often find themselves on the bench, the transfer rumors have been flying fast and furious.

Earlier this month, there were plenty of reports about a potential Rashford exit. Not the transfer rumors are shifting more towards Martial. Multiple reports have suggested that Martial rejected a new contract offer over concerns about his lack of playing time. He’s only started only four games, and has not scored a single goal since Alexis Sanchez arrived from Arsenal in January.
