EFL Cup Man United Injury Report: Mkhitaryan, Carrick, Rooney, Jones


Sunday brings the EFL Cup final, Manchester United versus Southampton, at Wembley Stadium in London. United Manager Jose Mourinho met the media today in part to preview the trophy clash at the national stadium and the session included an update on his squad’s fitness situation.

Mourinho commented on Wayne Rooney, who just yesterday ended speculation about a transfer to China via an official public statement committing his future to the club.

Jose Mourinho Very Upset About United’s Europa League Draw


Manchester United could still achieve a “plastic treble” this season, as they have advanced deep in the FA Cup, League Cup and UEFA Europa League tournaments.

The next Europa tie sees the club travel to FC Rostov on March 9th for the first leg, and then host the second leg on March 16th. Sandwiched between the two matches is the epic FA Cup quarterfinal clash with Chelsea on March 13th. United Manager Jose Mourinho is furious about the scheduling.

Jose Mourinho Press Conference Previewing EFL Cup (Full Video)


Manchester United Manager Jose Mourinho just did his weekly press conference a few hours ago and it covered a lot of ground. The session is in advance of the EFL Cup final match on Sunday, and Mourinho discussed the sacking of Leicester City Manager Claudio Ranieri at length; showing solidarity for the Italian with “CR” on his shirt.

He also discussed the team’s fitness situation and his disappointment in the Europa League draw.

Jose Mourinho Shows Solidarity with Claudio Ranieri; Wears CR on Shirt


In April of 2016 there was talk of Claudio Ranieri being knighted and having streets named after him. Documentaries glorifying his achievements were in the works. In February of 2017 he was sacked. It’s the message of the Frank Sinatra standard “That’s Life” manifesting itself in a very extreme, all too real manner.

“That’s life, that’s what people say. You’re riding high in April; shot down in May.”

While Leicester City, the reigning Premier League champions no longer endorse Claudio Ranieri, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho does.

Wayne Rooney Committs Future to Manchester United; Returns to Training


Update: Wayne Rooney commits his future to Manchester United, via a statement posted on United’s official website on Thursday. Manager Jose Mourinho indicates that Rooney is back in training with the club on Friday during his press conference

Rooney said: “Despite the interest which has been shown from other clubs, for which I’m grateful, I want to end recent speculation and say that I am staying at Manchester United.

Predicted Manchester United Starting XI vs Southampton (EFL Cup)


Manchester United have been beaten just once in their last 25 overall across all competitions. It’s a feat unmatched since the Sir Alex Ferguson era. However, they’re still in sixth place in the league, a spot they have occupied since late October. Nevertheless, United have a chance for a so-called “plastic treble,” and winning in the EFL Cup on Sunday accomplishes the first component of that triad.

United have also reached the quarterfinals of the FA Cup and the last 16 of the Europa League.

Manchester United’s Last League Cup Title Actually Has a Donald Trump Connection


Donald Trump is the 45th President of these United States of America, like it or not. This is reality despite his losing the popular vote by 2.8 million and receiving votes from just 27% of the eligible American electorate. As painful as it is to say, he is the man who is currently in the world’s most powerful position and as such has influence in places that you would never imagine.

Take for instance the League Cup of English football. With the EFL Cup Final set to kickoff on Sunday, and Manchester United vying with Southampton for the trophy, the Manchester Evening News unearthed this gem from the last time United won the title.

Juan Mata Partially Jokes that he Wants Gary Lineker’s Presenting Job

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata is one of the club’s main vocal leaders. After the whole David de Gea “is he staying or not?” drama turned tedium concluded, Mata was the main conduit for his countryman to the public when De Gea was not interested in doing media appearances.

First “Manchester Derby” Outside England Could be in USA this Summer


In September, we saw the biggest Manchester Derby in history. When Manchester United met Manchester City this past fall it received more hype and media coverage than any previous installment of the series. It was also televised in more than 600 countries.

In the summer, Man United and Man City were set to meet in a preseason exhibition in China, but mother nature had other plans.

Manchester United could still achieve a “plastic treble” this season, as they have advanced deep in the FA Cup, League Cup and UEFA Europa League. Following their win over St. Etienne today, the Red Devils advanced to the Europa League round of 16.
