Peyton Manning voted “most respected player in the NFL”

On Thursday, NFL Nation unveiled Peyton Manning as the “Most Respected Player in the NFL.” More survey results will be released leading up to the Super Bowl. It’s just another accolade and endorsement for Peyton Manning, who’s had a ton of them. Peyton Manning just threw for 400+ yards, a NFL conference championship record. They’ll face the winner of Seahawks-49ers in the Super Bowl.

Omaha! Omaha!: Manning’s pre-snap audible calls – “Omaha! Omaha!” – last Sunday made Nebraska’s largest city a trending topic on Twitter during the game. The city’s tourism board entered the fray with a tweet thanking the Denver quarterback. And Omaha Steaks approached Peyton Manning for a possible endorsement.

What the Indianapolis Colts need to fix in 2014

The Indianapolis Colts and the NFL postseason have now split due to “creative differences.” The NFL playoffs decided they “wanted some space” from the Colts. The January one-and-done tournament is “going in a different direction” from the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts clinched the NFL’s most awful division. That’s how they got to host a first round game. And the result was an “instant classic” for the ages. One of the greatest playoff games in NFL history in the win over the K.C. Chiefs.

Then tonight happened.

Sure, the Indianapolis Colts made the second season, but their end was quite unceremonious. How do they return to the postseason next fall?

Indianapolis Colts vs K.C. Chiefs: brutally honest playoff preview

I would say the Indianapolis Colts don’t really scare anyone heading into the NFL playoffs, as their performances in December left a lot to be desired. However, the last three Super Bowl champions all had at least 6 losses, so it really doesn’t matter all that much. The Indianapolis Colts, if they run the table this month would truly represent the “just get in” mentality that epitomizes what the NFL playoffs are today.

These days it’s basically March Madness, one and done, seeding doesn’t matter and anything can happen.

Antoine Bethea of the Indianapolis Colts is a hard hitting defensive back. He’s vicious out on the NFL playing field for the AFC South Champs. That’s why he chose to show off his amply tattooed torso in a brand-new PETA ad that carries the caption “Play Hard and Make Kind Choices—Mine Is Ink, Not Mink.”

The stunning ad, which was shot by top celebrity photographer Sabin Orr, can be viewed after the jump

Indianapolis Colts Chuck Pagano: under the radar in ’13

It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano; who took leave for a few months last season when he was diagnosed with leukemia. The 53 year old had to endure a multi-week stay in the hospital for chemotherapy treatment. The team rallied around him with the #chuckstrong motto. Team cheerleaders even shaved their heads to show solidarity with Chuck Pagano. And once he was cleared by doctors, his last round of chemotherapy, he returned to coaching, just in time for the NFL playoffs.

Chuck Pagano also gave one hell of a pregame speech last year. It made me one hell of a Colts fan; and of course a fan of Chuck Pagano.

Colts vs Broncos not the highest rated regular season game ever

lucas oil stadium-colts

Indianapolis Colts versus Denver Broncos was not the highest rated NFL regular season game in history. Many of us thought it indeed would be. It has to settle for good ratings, decent ratings, but not record breaking. The Peyton Manning Homecoming Game or “Peyton Manning Bowl” was ALL CAPS! in its HYPE AND PROMOTION.

Manning’s return to Indy to face the Colts in “The House that Peyton Built” was over-covered by national media on a level on par with the Johnny Manziel offseason. NBC absolutely promoted the hell of it, self-promoting in a way that only NBC Sports Network can. It was aggressive, even so by NBC standards.
