Serge Aurier Red Card Undeserved Says Mauricio Pochettino

serge aurier

In Tottenham Hotspur’s 3-2 win over London rivals West Ham United today, Defender Serge Aurier drew Spurs’ first red card in Premier League competition since Vlad Chiriches in 2014-15. The former Paris Saint-Germain man, who got in plenty of trouble during his days with PSG, got sent off in the 70′ for a late tackle on West Ham forward Andy Carroll, which resulted in his second yellow card of the game.

This match also marked the debut of Serge Aurier with his new club, so it’s certainly “starting off on the wrong foot” to say the least.

mauricio pochettino

During a press conference, Tottenham Hotspur Manager Mauricio Pochettino stated the club’s competitive priorities this season. He was blunt about the fact that Spurs are focusing on two competitions- the English Premier League and UEFA Champions League.

England boasts five teams in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League competition, which commences in just a couple hours. That’s more than any other country and it comes benefiting the Manchester United triumph in the Europa League last season. It awarded Jose Mourinho’s team an automatic place in the group stage of the UCL, an objective they would not have been able to meet by their Premier League performance alone.

The other four teams finished the season in one of the top four places, in one of the EPL’s most toughly disputed contests in recent seasons.

mauricio pochettino

Tottenham Hotspur and England star Dele Alli claims that the middle finger he extended during Three Lions’ World Cup qualifier was directed as former Spurs teammate Kyle Walker, and not the official. Alli made the obscene gesture (“flipping the bird”) during England’s 2-1 win over Slovakia as a “joke with a good friend” in his words.

The incident came just moments after Alli was barged into by Slovakia defender Martin Skrtel but no penalty was called by referee Clement Turpin, and play continued.

tottenham-hotspur-transfer-rumors

It’s been awhile since we’ve heard much about the White Hart Lane redevelopment plan at Tottenham Hotspur football club. Tottenham Hotspur Summer Transfer Window Grade: B

daniel-levy-tottenham-hotspur-transfer-rumors

Tottenham Hotspur football club taught us that as long you get your deals done within the allotted window, it does not matter when they get closed. Spurs had a comatose window that awoke late, and once it did, ended up appearing somewhat impressive.

What’s most important, in the big picture, is that Chairman Daniel Levy put the hammer down on anyone that wants to leave and seek a fatter contract elsewhere. Spurs keep who they want to keep, and this summer was the best example of that.

Tottenham Add Fernando Llorente, Beat Chelsea to Swans Striker

fernando llorente

Chelsea Football Club’s up and down summer transfer window seems to be barreling towards a disastrous finish. This week saw a bunch of bad news for the Blues, as Tottenham Hotspur beat Chelsea to Swansea City striker Fernando Llorente. Just yesterday, Chelsea Manager Antonio Conte believed that he was about to reunite with his former player at Juventus.

It’s another disappointment, in a week which has seen many. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain went back on his agreement to join Chelsea, and opted to move to Liverpool instead. Everton defender Ross Barkley changed his mind at the last minute, during his testing at Chelsea, opting to stay put it in Merseyside instead.

Serge Aurier Pledges a Fresh Start with Tottenham Hotspur

serge aurier

About three hours ago, Tottenham Hotspur officially announced the arrival of new right back Serge Aurier from Paris Saint-Germain. Aurier comes over on a five year deal which will keep him at the club until 2022. The transfer fee was reported to be about £23 million, which seems downright thrifty in an extremely inflated transfer market such as this.

PSG might have been lucky to even get that much though when you consider all the baggage that Aurier brings with him. He’s had a lot of off-the-pitch issues with one particular incident standing out from the rest.
