Mauricio Pochettino Counters Petr Cech Swipe at Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has made his counter point to Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech, who earlier this week told Spurs they must finally win a trophy in order to claim true progress. Pochettino said at his weekly news conference Friday that he would not trade places with Arsenal and their recent run of FA Cup titles in the past four years.

This is the moment that “international break” transitioned to “North London Derby” week. We went from a void of discussion topics to “Omg! Did he really just say that? Expect a major fallout and repercussions from this.” Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has told rival club Tottenham Hotspur that they need to finally win a trophy in order to claim and convey progress.

With the two teams clashing Saturday afternoon at the Emirates, this is the very definition of “talking trash,” “throwing shade,” “shots fired” and “bulletin board material. This will be the first meeting between the two clubs since Spurs finished ahead of the Gunners in the Premier League last season, the first time that they have done so in 21 years.

Tottenham Hotspur May Pose Biggest Threat to Manchester City Title Hopes

Tottenham Hotspur were the last team standing between the last two Premier League champions and their eventual glory. They might be again. Tonight Tottenham Hotspur handed Real Madrid their first loss in a UEFA Champions League group stage match since October 2012; ending a 30 game unbeaten streak. They did it with style too, beating Los Blancos 3-1, at Wembley, on a pitch reinforced with artificial grass, and that scoreline doesn’t quite do justice to how one-sided this match was.

It will go down as the third most lopsided loss to an English side by Real in their club history, and it vaulted Spurs forward to the knockout round of Champions League.
