spain DAVID DE GEA

Spain has unveiled the official team roster that is set to compete for the 2018 World Cup in Russia next month, and there are some notable absentees. Among the most glaring cuts are a quartet of Chelsea men- midfielder Cesc Fabregas, forward Pedro, striker Alvaro Morata and wing back Marcos Alonso.

Although Morata has struggled with injuries and had an ineffective club season, he was a key cog for Spain during qualifiers, as he contributed five goals. Nevertheless, Coach Julen Lopetegui decided to go in a different direction. Other notable snubs included Napoli’s Jose Callejoin and Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin.

Roman Abramovich in Limbo as Chelsea Owner’s UK Visa Renewal Delayed

roman abramovich

In case you were wondering why Chelsea Owner Roman Abramovich did not attend Chelsea’s FA Cup final win over Manchester United in London yesterday, it’s because he cannot legally enter the country right now. His United Kingdom visa expired in April, and according to multiple reports, he’s experiencing a delay in renewal.

It is the policy of the government agency that handles processing visas to not comment on reasons for delay. However, given that Abramovich is now based in London, is Britain’s 13th richest man according to the Sunday Times with £9.3bn, and tensions escalating between Great Britain and Ambramovich’s native Russia, this is obviously a major news development.

Antonio Conte Says He Will Always Love Chelsea, Blues Supporters

After he guided Chelsea to a 1-0 FA Cup Final win over Manchester United, Blues manager Antonio Conte made remarks to the media that came off as a “back me or sack me” kind of message. At the same time, Conte gave commentary that evoked the legendary power ballad “I will always love you.”

Written by Dolly Parton in the late 1960s, and best popularized by Whitney Houston’s performing it in the early 1990s, it’s a song about having to say goodbye, and not looking back in anger. The lyrics to the 10th-best-selling single of the 1990s in the United Kingdom (estimated sales 1,355,055) convey a message of “it’s time for us to part, but no hard feelings, in fact I still love you.”

Willian Fuels Exit Speculation with Bizarre FA Cup Social Media Post

willian

This is a very “interesting” way to “celebrate” your team’s FA Cup triumph: altering the team photo to cover up the manager with emojis. It’s exactly what Chelsea forward Willian did, placing emojis over his manager Antonio Conte in his Instagram post following the Blues’ 1-0 win over Manchester United in the FA Cup final

While Conte is widely believed to be leaving the club now that the season is over, he still remains the boss for the time being, and thus shouldn’t be disrespected as such. Especially so after just winning silverware for the club; take a look:

Chelsea 1, United 0: FA Cup Final News, Notes, Nuggets, Tidbits

fa-cup

Chelsea have defeated Manchester United 1-0 in the FA Cup Final, a match was rather dull to say the least. Eden Hazard provided the only scoring, on a 22′ penalty conversion, and many of us who watched the game probably wish we could those 90 minutes of our lives back.

While the game itself wasn’t off-the-charts thrilling, there is a fair of amount of interesting FA Cup news, notes, nuggets and tidbits relating to this one, so let’s spin through it.

Eden Hazard the Hero in Unentertaining Chelsea FA Cup Final Victory

eden hazard

It’s fitting that the team wearing royal blue would win the biggest sporting event in the world being held today; just hours after this Saturday’s hugest news event, the Royal Wedding, was held across town.

As uninteresting as the Meghan Markle-Prince Harry matrimonial event was to many of this site’s readers (trust me I feel ya on this one), the FA Cup Final wasn’t exactly a thrill a minute itself. Chelsea forward Eden Hazard provided the only scoring, and that came on a 22′ penalty kick, in the Blues’ 1-0 win over United, a match that was as dull as many reporters thought it could be on Friday.

United-Chelsea Winner Will Receive Silverware from Ray Wilkins Widow

ray wilkins

It’s fitting that the widow of Ray Wilkins, Jackie, will present the FA Cup trophy and winner’s medals to whichever side, Manchester United or Chelsea, emerges victorious in the tournament final today. That’s because Wilkins played for, and made a massive impact on, both teams in the competition.

Ray Wilkins, who passed away from cardiac arrest at the age of 61 in early April, will also be honored with a banner at Wembley Stadium and a tribute in the match day program.

Eden Hazard Says He’s Not Selfish Enough to Win Ballon d’Or

eden hazard

It’s very difficult for any elite player to try and break into the Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo duopoly that is the Ballon d’Or Award these days. For starters, you have to be top notch among the highest rung of players in the entire world, and you have to score a lot, and you have to do it with panache. It’s about a lot more than just being the best of the best on the pitch. You have to become a well known and established individual brand as well.

For Chelsea star Eden Hazard, who is among the world’s best when his game is on point, it could be his selfless nature that holds him back from winning the award. Or at least it’s a theory that he’s willing to subscribe to.

Antonio Conte Says He’s Pleased with His Work this Season

When Chelsea manager Antonio Conte was asked, for the umpteenth time, whether or not he will be back at the club next season, he told a joke that had yesterday’s press conference in stitches. He later took on a more serious outlook, saying that his fate should not be decided by today’s FA Cup Final against Manchester United.

“There are people to judge your work,” Conte responded when asked if his job status should hinge on Saturday’s result at the national stadium.

Olivier Giroud Says He’ll Be Chelsea’s “Lucky Charm” in FA Cup Final

jennifer giroud olivier giroud

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud is going to be a very key player in tomorrow’s FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium between Chelsea and Manchester United. As the Frenchman’s track record conveys- how he always makes a major impact in these matches held at the national stadium.

There’s just something about Giroud and Wembley that go together like peanut butter and jelly. So much so that it actually angered his Blues teammates, a little bit, when he joined up from Arsenal in January. They were still upset about Giroud’s setting up the Aaron Ramsey goal that clinched last year’s FA Cup title for the Gunners.

Romelu Lukaku Availability Will be a Last Minute Decision Says Jose Mourinho

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho addressed the media a couple hours ago, ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup Final against Chelsea, and you already know what the very first question was about- Romelu Lukaku.

United’s leading scorer is still recovering from an ankle injury that has kept him out of the past three games. He returned to the club’s training ground on Tuesday, after having gone to his native Belgium for treatment. Lukaku faces a very late fitness test that won’t be decided until kickoff tomorrow.
