Two Leading Arsene Wenger Successor Candidates Distance Themselves from Arsenal Job

Ever since Arsene Wenger announced his resignation, effective at the end of the season, on Friday, outlets everywhere created and published lists of leading candidates to be the Frenchman’s successor at the club. (We’re no different, here’s a link to ours.) NYCFC Coach Patrick Vieira and Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers are two names that you will see near the top of every list.

Over the weekend, both Vieira and Rodgers distanced themselves from reports linking them to the open gig in north London. Of course they did so in the “saying all the right things” approach, meaning we need to take what they said with a grain of salt.

Arsene Wenger Doesn’t See Problems with Attendance, Empty Seats

arsene wenger

Once again the prevalence of empty seats at Arsenal home games is a hot topic, and again Gunners manager Arsene Wenger is in denial about the problem. Attendance has been decreasing as the Gunners have long been out of the race for a top four finish, and we never really had a league title race this season as Manchester City sizzled out of the gate. No other side was competitive enough to warrant using the ComeOn voucher code to back them to win the title over City.

Arsenal are currently in sixth place, and still in danger of losing their position to Burnley and finding themselves, potentially, out of Europe all together next season. Almost one third of seats at the Emirates have been in empty for recent league games, but the last time Wenger discussed dwindling attendance, he blamed it on Easter Sunday.

Arsene Wenger Rips Premier League Over VAR Decision

arsene wenger

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has spent much of this season harshly criticizing Premier League referees, so it’s only natural that he would also slam the Premier League’s decision on Video Assistant Referee (VAR). Wenger was irate after his side were denied a potential penalty for a handball during the first half of their loss at Newcastle United.

The 2-1 result marked the Gunners fifth straight league defeat away from home. The Gunners now sit 13 points outside the top four. In his post match news conference, Wenger ripped the league’s decision not to go with VAR as “very, very bad” and as a move that will cause the league to fall behind other leagues in the world.

Arsenal FC in Talks for New £40m-a-year Kit Deal

Arsenal FC currently have a kit partnership with Puma that is worth just under £30 million per season. It is set to expire next year, meaning the market will soon be opening up for another manufacturer to step in with a higher bid. That manufacturer appears to be Adidas; who we’re now supposed to refer to as “Ah-dee-dahs,” after decades of calling them Adidas.

I guess the Run DMC song “My Adidas” from the 1980s will need to be changed. Adidas are reportedly willing to give the north London side a 33% increase in payout, as the Daily Mail claims the German sportswear company is willing to go more than £40 million per term.
