The NBA Draft Lottery was held Tonight and we found out the Cleveland Cavs will pick first in the 2013 NBA Draft.
The Cavs have been lucky enough to get No. 1 pick 3 times in 11 years. However, the Cavs have also been bad enough to get No. 1 pick three times in 11 years.
Unlike last year when Anthony Davis was the clear cut top prospect, a number of players are in consideration this year including Kentucky‘s Nerlens Noel, Ben McLemore of Kansas, and even Michigan‘s Trey Burke or Georgetown‘s Otto Porter. More than likely, team need will play a huge factor in terms of which player hears their named called first on June 27th.

The 2013 group of NBA free agents is a lot deeper and more talented than last year’s crop. Star players like Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, and Josh Smith will be available this summer and there are several teams that have put themselves in position to make some major splashes in free agency. The 2014 NBA Draft class is shaping up to be way more loaded than the 2013 group. Here is an insanely early 2014 NBA Mock Draft where team needs and outstanding trades have NOT yet been taken into account. Click here for The Sports Bank’s 2013 NBA Mock Draft.
The NBA Trade Deadline came and went without any star players changing homes. It was less entertaining than this season of American Idol… and that’s saying something. In fact, the “biggest” name to be traded was J.J. Redick who went from Orlando to Milwaukee. Ish. Here are the winners and losers of the 2013 NBA Trade Deadline.
It is an annual tradition here during the NBA All-Star break to re-do the NBA Draft lottery from the previous year. The Sports Bank’s NBA Draft Nerd, David Kay and Peter Christian will alternate re-drafting the first round of the 2012 NBA Draft taking into account what they know about the rookies based off their performances so far this season. They will factor in how each team’s roster looked at the time of the draft and give their reasons as to why the selection would be made.

Rudy Gay’s name has been floating around in trade rumors the past couple of weeks and finally the triggered has been pulled in our first major pre-trade deadline deal. Gay heads from the Memphis Grizzlies to the Toronto Raptors in a three-team trade that also includes the Detroit Pistons. Here is my trade breakdown.
If you haven’t noticed Detroit Pistons in-arena hostess Erin Nicole yet, you won’t forget the name after seeing this post today. The singer, actress, spokesmodel continues the tradition of hot girls named Erin in sports media, and models becoming “journalists.”
I’m sure you’ll enjoy her appearance in the promo for a “Naughty Schoolgirl” night after the jump. She also does traffic reports or something for the ABC affiliate in Detroit.
The Sports Bank will be counting down to the opening tip of the 2012-13 NBA season with team by team previews starting with the worst and working our way to the title contenders. There is no lockout this time around so let’s get going.
The Detroit Pistons are still suffering from some recent poor financial decisions made by general manager Joe Dumars that has held back the franchise (i.e. the Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva off-season along with the fact that Richard Hamilton still accounts for $5.5 million of their cap this year.) Like the past three seasons, Detroit figures to fall short of the playoff picture.
Led by Kevin Durant‘s 30 points, the USA basketball team claimed another gold medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics beating Spain, 107-100. With several players and possibly head coach Mike Krzyzewski not expected to return for the 2016 Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the U.S. will have a good amount of turnover on their next Olympic roster. Here’s a sneak peek at what Team USA could look like in four years.
