Bengals icon Cris Collinsworth has colorful take on drug issues

Drugs dude! It’s always an eye-catching topic.

Illegal drugs are a topic that makes for good copy. Cris Collinsworth also makes for good copy. He played his entire NFL career with the Cincinnati Bengals and although he made three Pro Bowls, and went to two Super Bowls, he may be a better announcer than player. After his retirement as an NFL player, Cris Collinsworth began a broadcasting career as a sports radio talk show host on Cincinnati station WLW. Initially, he was a guest host for Bob Trumpy (also a Bengals alumnus), but took over the show full-time as Trumpy accepted more television assignments. He then became a reporter for HBO’s (now Showtime’s) Inside the NFL in 1989.

AFC North NFL Draft: sizing it up (Update)

So how did the AFC North do in the 2013 NFL Draft?

Well, I don’t believe in doing draft grades right when the draft is over- talk to me in a few years, then we’ll see how these picks panned out.

You can’t grade them right away; watch ‘em play actual NFL football first! I pay as much attention to NFL Draft immediate grades as I do to live blogging or live game discussion threads.

Because Twitter is better than live blogging and discussion threads combined. Period.

That’s said, let’s review what the AFC North did in rounds 1-3.

Top 2013 NFL Draft Tweets, Hashtags, RTs @Mentions

The 2013 NFL Draft is less than a week away. Expect Twitter to be overloaded Thursday night when the first round commences. Remember last year when the Miami Dolphins drafted Ryan Tannehill, and wife Lauren Tannehill or Lauren Ufer “broke the internet.” There was search and social media activity then which rivaled Katherine Webb during the Crimson Tide crushing of Notre Dame in the title game.

Here’s my first round mock with the detailed player of analysis of the 2013 NFL Draft.

And our full 7 round mock of the 2013 NFL Draft.

Salorix, a social media firm, is analyzing tweets during the NFL Draft. Here’s what they’ve found so far.

Cedric Benson meeting with Packers: returning for 2013?

Cedric Benson may be returning to the arch-rival of the team that originally drafted him. NFL Network reports that the Green Bay Packers are meeting with Cedric Benson today. On August 12, 2012, Benson signed a one-year deal with the Pack worth $825,000. On October 7, Cedric Benson suffered a Lisfranc injury to his foot and got placed on IR.

He only played three games with Green Bay last year, and averaged just 3.5 yards per carry. I thought the NFL was closing the book on the 4th pick of the 2005 NFL Draft, but apparently the Packers and Cedric Benson are ready to give it another go.

Bengals hosting Ohio State football spring game: 26,000 tickets already!

The Cincinnati Bengals are hosting the Ohio State football spring scrimmage this year. Well, the Bengals stadium is anyway. I don’t know if disgraced former Captain of the Cincinnati Bengals cheerleaders (pictured above) Sarah Jones will be there. Probably not. But possibly.

The Ohio State football “game” will actually be an intras-quad scrimmage consisting of four quarters. Saturday, April 13 at 1 p.m. at Paul Brown Stadium. More than 26,000 tickets ($12 a pop) have been sold so far. There is no live broadcast. The Big Ten Network will televise the scrimmage on a tape delay basis at 7 p.m. Saturday evening, April 13. Eric Collins and Glen Mason on the call. Mason is usually funny and entertaining. So it might be worth enduring watching guys you’ve never heard do contact drills to listen to him.

To say that Ohio State football is a religion is to understate both college football and organized religion. Most churches envy both the size and devotion of the Ohio State football flock. In the Buckeye state, Ohio State football is bigger than Jesus, Allah, Buddah, Moses, Pope Francis, Vishnu, Martin Luther, Joseph Smith, Zoroaster and L. Ron Hubbard COMBINED.

ex-Bengals cheerleader Sarah Jones violates parole

Remember our good friend Bengals cheerleader Sarah Jones? The former schoolteacher was indicted on charges of having sex with a student. Originally she pleaded not guilty but now she’s accepted a plea deal. And she showed up to court with that student who she is now dating. She even divorced her husband of one year to date him.  Jones, sometimes referred to as the female Jerry Sandusky is an interesting case.

Now she’s violated her probation and cheerleader Sarah Jones will have to wear an ankle bracelet due to parole violation.

(oh, and plenty of cheerleader/bikini photos to follow after the jump).
