Since Derrick Rose went down with the season ending knee injury at Portland, the Chicago Bulls are 2-4 with a point differential. In the previous games, the Bulls were 6-5.
Yesterday, Derrick Rose was asked what do you say to the people who believe the Chicago Bulls should move on without you? There was silence for awhile, Rose took awhile to think and contemplate before answering, and then he said “you can be a fool if you want to.”
It was the signature moment of the first media appearance for Derrick Rose since he injured his meniscus, and was ruled out for the rest of the NBA season.
However, don’t entertain any notions of the Bulls making the playoffs and Rose returning for the postseason.
No, the doctors have spoken. We have clarity. We have closure on Derrick Rose and the 2013-14 NBA season. He’s not coming back.
And although Rose had a great answer to a tough question, it doesn’t exactly mean he “won the press conference” today.
Derrick Rose answered another question with a response that included “I’ve been an underdog my whole life.”
Uhmmmm, Rose is aware that the nation’s third largest city has worshiped and idolized him the past five years, correct? And before that, he was the #1 overall pick in the NBA Draft, so league scouts and GMs drooled over him? And before that, D Rose was the number one recruit in the nation, so college basketball programs salivated and coveted him. And before that Derrick Rose was fawned over by AAU people and shoe companies and handlers and hangers on and basically there have been people telling Derrick Rose he’s the next Michael Jordan, that he’s the second coming since the time he was age 10.
So, sorry. Not buying the playing of the underdog card there.
