Ha how could I forgot about our old captain, I love Burish, he is easily top 3 face-washer in the league so it's good to have a guy like that on the team to protect our skill players, even though (and i hate to say it) he is probably not high on the priority list in terms of needing to keep him year in and year out. He is a 30 dollar Shersey, not 300 dollar Authentic type of player if you know what I mean. On a side not I first found TSB because of my bro's articles, but then I started checking out other articles and realized its a great site. Usually im not a "blog" man because it is usually obnoxious, moronic alumni or john doe's ranting with their uneducated opinions, but I have found TSB to be different (my bro corrected me and said it isn't a blog) so props Mr. Banks. You guys do an amazing job of covering local sports without a biased opinion and without the homer-ism. Love it.

Welcome to the TSB comment threads Mr. Fowler...I enjoyed your feedback. Since you're so high on Skille, what about Burish? any plugs for him?

I think everybody is getting too hung up on the one year Havlat had, I know as a die-hard 'Hawks fan I was very appreciative of the job he did and getting us to the playoffs, but if you take a step back and look at it, this was only his second season with over 60 points and this was a contract year. If this was any other team and you saw Hossa joining and Havlat leaving for roughly 2 million more for the first couple years, I would consider that a major upgrade. Madden is a great back-checker and will help to avoid those odd-man rushes that seemed so prevalent in our playoff run (just dump the puck in campbell). I disagree that one of the three big free agents of 2010 will be gone, khabby's salary will be off the books and I can almost promise you that either Huet or Campbell will be gone by next summer in order to free up space to pay Toews and Kane about 7 million a year, and Keith probably around 6 million per year, unfortunately this will probably mean some of our other young role players like Versteeg or Sharp (or both) will be shipped off, but hopefully young studs like Dowell and Skille (shameless UW plug from a current student) and draft picks like Beach. One last thing....that Mr. Fowler character who writes every now and then for you has some major talent....just a hunch

the money hossa recieves gradually declines...the last years of his 12 year deal will pay him only $1M, so its not that bad. plus a definite upgrade from havlat who has been injury prone while hossa has rarely missed a game (hope i dont jinx it).

And Huet isn't something significant in return? He's certainly had his moments...this past season

Ghost, the Wild aren't going to be giving Harding for cheap... they are looking for something significant in return.

Hearing hawks may move huet as long as they can get Josh Harding from min or Corey schneider from van. Harding wants out of min and likely can post the same numbers as huet for a lot less coin. Then trade huet for a 2nd pairing dman and all is well.

12 years...that's a long time. I think they'll make a play for a defenseman soon.
