After a very entertaining encounter between Notre Dame and Miami-Ohio in the Hockey City Classic Wisconsin and Minnesota had quite the task ahead of them. But it turned out that they would not disappoint the 52,051 in attendance at Soldier Field.

The first period was scoreless despite Minnesota outshooting Wisconsin 13-5 and winning more faceoffs. The Badgers were able to counter with solid defense and keep the Golden Gophers from scoring.
