We saw a lot of transfer rumors circulating in the Twitterverse, blogosphere, cyberspace and media world this past January window, just as we always do. Of course, we haven’t seen any big deals at all. The speculation has ended up being a thousand times more interesting than the deals which were actually closed.
Luis Suarez is a name that still comes up in transfer rumors, even though those rumors might be a bit far fetched.
The current Barcelona and former Liverpool striker has been linked to both Arsenal and Manchester United in the past year.
However, Luis Suarez said yesterday that if he were to move back to England, there’s only one club he’d land at.
That would be his former club of Liverpool.
“I’d prefer to stay here for many more years. I know it doesn’t always turn out that way,” he told the Daily Mail.
“But if I had to return to the Premier League, I would only go to Liverpool. I wouldn’t go to another team.
“It wouldn’t be a move for money. I’d also love to play again for Ajax, as they allowed me to develop as a player in Europe.”
Suarez was brought to Anfield from Ajax in 2011, and during his career at Kop thrilled supporters greatly. Of course, he kept getting into trouble on the pitch, and his malfeasance got him jettisoned to Barca.
Suarez is a very polarizing, highly criticized figure, but LFC fans love the bad boy. He’s still very well received among Reds supporters despite all his faults.
Luis Suarez added: “I have missed the fans. The (Anfield) atmosphere is incredible, it’s incredible.”
“Everyone that has played for Liverpool knows how important the supporters are. They know that they are in my heart.”
