If Arsene Wenger and Arsenal are to get through the knockout stages of UEFA Champions League, they’ll truly really have to earn it. The selection process absolutely did them no favors today with the grouping they received. They’ll have to deal with the powerhouse of Germany, the reigning Bundesliga Champion Bayern Munich.
The Gunners do not have an easy road, as Arsene Wenger has seen his side eliminated from Europe at the hands of Bayern in two of the past three tournaments.
If we have to apply the “Group of Death” cliche to one Champions League grouping, and really this is highly subjective and very arguable, I would say it’s either Group F:
Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Olympiacos and Dinamo Zagreb; or it’s Group D:
Juventus, Manchester City, Sevilla, and the extremely fun to type out and pronounce Borussia Monchengladbach.
