Jose Mourinho Determined to Best Arch-rival Liverpool for Second Place

jose mourinho

José Mourinho was in a very upbeat but also combative mood after his side’s 2-0 win over Swansea City today, sending a loud and clear message to the critics of his team. Mourinho wanted to make it known that his team will do everything in their power to finish second in the Premier League this season.

“Since the moment we left the first position and went to second, we stayed there for the whole of the season. We deserve to finish second, in spite of what you can say, the critiques you can make,” Mourinho said.

Adam Lallana Injury Looks “Really Serious,” Says Jurgen Klopp

adam lallana

The extremely unfortunate and very troubled season for Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana continued today as he was stretchered off just five minutes after entering the Reds 2-1 win at Crystal Palace. A long term thigh injury has limited Lallana to just 13 appearances across all competitions this season, and Saturday saw him suffer a new hamstring problem that could be quite serious.

Lallana was spotted departing Selhurst Park on crutches, and Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp expressed concern over how bad the injury might be, once it has been fully assessed.

United 2, Swansea 0 News: Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez, Jose Mourinho

alexis sanchez

Alexis Sanchez scored just his second goal in a Manchester United shirt today, part of an effort that was likely his best since moving over from Arsenal in January. It was the 11th game in a Red Devils uniform for Sanchez, and the result was a 2-0 win over Swansea City at home.

After the match, manager Jose Mourinho was obviously extremely pleased with the result, and hailed the team concept of the result while refusing to go too overboard on the individual angle in the game.

Mohamed Salah Heroics Inspiring Fans to Convert to Islam

Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah is developing into a superstar this season, and he’s now currently the front-runner to win PFA Player of the Year. His game winning goal today, in a 2-1 come-from-behind triumph at Crystal Palace, saw his tying Chelsea legend Didier Drogba for the most single season goals (29) scored by an African player in Premier League history.

Remember, the Reds still have six league games to go. Not bad for a player once tossed aside by Chelsea. Salah’s overall total of 37 goals across all competitions is also the most in a single season by a Liverpool player in the Premier League era, beating Robbie Fowler’s total of 36 in 1995-96. Salah’s tally has come in just 41 games, compared to Fowler’s requiring 53 matches to meet the mark.

Jurgen Klopp Admits a “Dirty Three Points” Amid Sadio Mane Controversy

jurgen klopp

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp admits it was “a dirty three points” that his side came away with today, but also that “the dirty ones are very often the most important.”

Klopp’s men came from behind to win 2-1 at Crystal Palace today in a match that could likely be most remembered for a controversial non-call on Liverpool winger Sadio Mane. Mane was booked for simulation midway through the first half, but even Klopp admits his forward was lucky to escape a second yellow on a later incident, which would have resulted in a sending off, and thus reduced the Reds to just ten men.

Jose Mourinho Admits He Can’t Explain Paul Pogba’s Drop in Form

paul pogba

Everybody who covers football, or even cares about it, has expressed their opinion on what they think is wrong with Paul Pogba this season. Last season’s struggles were sometimes blamed on the adjustment period he had to endure when he came back to Manchester United from Juventus.

This season, the midfielder’s dip in form has most often been blamed on manager Jose Mourinho playing him out of position. Others say Pogba is much more interested in commercialism (emojis, dancing, wild hair cuts) and individual branding that football. You also have people who blame the drop off on his being unsettled at the club/having a rift for Mourinho.
