Southampton Bring in Claude Puel as New Manager

Southampton FC have found their new boss. Claude Puel will be the man to replace Ronald Koeman, who left to replace Roberto Martinez at Everton. Thus we take on another spin on the coaching carousel as the Saints found their new manager in Ligue 1. Claude Puel will begin his regime on July 1st when the team opens training camp.

Former Paris St. Germain superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been heavily linked to Manchester United all summer, and that reached a culmination on June 4th when multiple outlets reported that he had reached his decision.

Ibrahimovic will join United on a one year deal.

Martin Skrtel Called Jurgen Klopp a Vulgarity on Instagram

If the Instagram feed of Liverpool FC Defender (for now anyway) Martin Skrtel is any indication, then he’s already mentally out the Anfield door. In the comments section of an Instagram post on Skrtel’s feed the player called LFC Manager Jurgen Klopp a vulgarity. Or maybe you can call this word an expletive.

Arsenal Boss Arsene Wenger: Top Candidate to Replace Roy Hodgson?

Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger is a leading candidate to replace ex-England Boss Roy Hodgson, who resigned yesterday after his gaffes and poor leadership helped inspire quite possibly the most embarrassing moment in Three Lions history. According to ESPN FC:

“England could be willing to wait for a manager such as Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger to complete his current contract as the Football Association searches for a manager to replace Roy Hodgson, chief executive Martin Glenn has suggested.”

Denzel Valentine on Wearing Michael Jordan’s Number

Denzel Valentine wasted no time beginning his transition to “the league.” The Chicago Bulls selected him with the 14th and final pick of the  NBA Draft Thursday night. By Monday he was at Bulls headquarters to meet the media and display his #45 jersey, the number both he and his Dad wore with the Michigan State Spartans, and briefly worn by Michael Jordan himself during his 1994 Bulls comeback. 

In the media session, Bulls GM Gar Forman said that Zel showed up with four or five large duffel bags, indicating that he’s moved in now and ready to hit the ground running.

Yes, free agency and Canadian Independence Day always intersect each year, and perhaps the Toronto Raptors will be a more interesting to team to watch this free agency season than the Chicago Bulls.

No offense to combo guard E’Twaun Moore, as you know how much we love the former Purdue Boilermakers star over here at The Sports Bank, but his story might be the most interesting Bulls narrative this silly season. Seriously, you should expect a very quiet FA summer in Chicago this year.

NBA Free Agency: 8 Teams Needing a Point Guard

Henrikh Mkhitaryan Edging Closer to Manchester United Move

Borussia Dortmund had previously stated publicly decided that star midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan will not be sold to Manchester United; or Arsenal or Tottenham Hotspur or anywhere else for that matter. BVB have done a total 180 from that stance as the Armenian’s transfer to Old Trafford appears to be imminent.

Depending on which source you’re looking at, the Mkhitaryan is “in advanced talks” or “reached an agreed upon fee.”

Wayne Rooney Disputes Reports of England Player Mutiny Against Roy Hodgson

Manchester United and England Captain Wayne Rooney has shot down reports that the England National Team Players were in revolt against Manager Roy Hodgson. Reports suggested some players were upset about personnel decisions and the inexplicable move of including Raheem Sterling in the starting XI against Iceland, a disastrous match that saw Three Lions eliminated from the 2016 European Championships.

Bulls Denzel Valentine on Future of Michigan State Hoops (Exclusive)

It was #DenzelValentinesDay at Chicago Bulls headquarters on Monday. Denzel Valentine, the last pick in the 2016 NBA Draft Lottery, by the Chicago Bulls at #14, was unveiled to the local media for some Q&A. Zel will wear #45 with the Bulls, the same number that both he and his Dad wore at Michigan State.

It’s also the same number that Michael Jordan briefly wore in 1994 during the first season of his historic comeback.
