Old Spice and the Green Bay Packers Greg Jennings issue fantasy coupons

For some fans, it’s been rather frustrating to see all those Greg Jennings Old Spice commercials and not see the star receiver on the football field.

Due to a variety of injuries, it’s been since September 30th since Jennings saw live action for the Green Bay Packers.

With his expected return to the gridiron this weekend against the Minnesota Vikings, Old Spice’s official facebook page issued fantasy football coupons in honor of Jennings. [Read more…]

5 sports terms we can do without

herbstreit

Pretty soon a college football player with the dumbest nickname of all time might take home the Heisman Trophy. If I never hear Johnny Manziel referred to as “Johnny Football” again that would be just fine.

But there’s a lot more unoriginal, annoyingly cliche words being spoken within the sports media. Here’s 5 that we routinely get from the worst offenders.

Big Ten Title Game between Wisconsin and Nebraska has B1G ramifications

For the Wisconsin Badgers, a win at the Big Ten Championship game in Indianapolis would mean three straight Big Ten titles and three consecutive Rose Bowl appearances, a feet which is unprecedented in school history.

For the Nebraska Cornhuskers, a win in the Championship game would be their official welcome to the conference as they move on from a successful history in the Big 12 and start anew in just their second year in the Big Ten.

Who said there wasn’t a lot at stake in Lucas Oil Stadium on Saturday?

McKayla Maroney photo gallery; Chris Hansen disapproves

mckayla-maroney

I’ve seen Twitter chatter about McKayla Maroney and the tweets are about checking her out. And then feeling creepy/weird about checking her out, and not knowing her age. I even saw a funny tweet that said all gymnastics broadcasts should display the competitor’s age at all times.

The twelve-game Big Ten/ACC Challenge tips off tonight with the top four ranked teams in the nation; Duke, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio State all in action.  After losing the first ten challenges, the Big Ten looks for their fourth straight win in this battle of power conferences.  To be completely blunt; they should have zero problem doing so as the Big Ten has far more depth than the ACC.

Notre Dame’s Manti Te’o: #3 pick in NFL Draft?

If you’re a fan of the Jacksonville Jaguars, K.C. Chiefs and Cleveland Browns, it’s time to start thinking NFL Draft.

Expectations are always high for both Manti Te’o and Notre Dame.

Te’o, an inside linebacker who graduated from the same high school as President Barack Obama, is one of those all-worldly college football recruits that earn the highest ratings possible from every recruiting service imaginable. Both ESPNU and the Sporting News rated him the top defensive player, and 2nd best player, in the nation. His recruiting process was highly publicized, and his final two choices were the ND and USC.

UCLA’s Jim Mora Jr. vs L.A. Times Columnist throwdown (video)

UCLA Bruins

UCLA Head coach Jim Mora Jr. is not scared of L.A. Times columnist T.J. Simers. Mora had his team’s effort questioned by Simers on Saturday, specifically if the team was tanking to set up a rematch with Stanford the following week in the Pac12 title game.

The Cardinal are presumed to be an easier matchup than Oregon, and a UCLA win would have brought on the Ducks. Although this logic is at least semi flawed because Stanford won at Oregon.
