Duke Asst Chris Collins not leaving for Illinois State

duke 2010 national champs

Associate head coach Chris Collins will remain at Duke after having initial discussions with Illinois State Director of Athletics Gary Friedman regarding the school’s head coaching vacancy.

Collins came to the decision to remove his name from consideration after discussions with Friedman on Sunday. He was also rumored to have a strong interest in the Northwestern job (despite the fact that it didn’t open up, and Bill Carmody later received a vote of confidence) and the Illini were rumored to be interested in Collins (of course that didn’t work out either).

So that’s three jobs in the Land of Lincoln that Collins has been linked to.

Mrs. Irrelevant? Last pick in NFL Draft, Colts Chandler Harnish gets creepy invitation (video)

chandler-harnish

I’m sure NIU quarterback Chandler Harnish never dreamed that “perks” like these would come with his new job. The greatest signal called in Huskies college football history became the last guy picked in our nation’s biggest gym class on Saturday when he went #253 overall in the 7th round to the Indianapolis Colts.

And that status is exactly why he has a special place in the heart of YouTube user Brianne, who straddles the line between fun crazy and dangerous crazy. Sexy crazy and felonious crazy. And that’s not all she wants to straddle.

Taking a look at the Green Bay Packers complete 2012 NFL Draft

With the 2012 NFL Draft in the books, we can now say the Green Bay Packers made an emphatic attempt to improve the one facet they struggled in the most last season.

General Manager Ted Thompson went away from his “best player on the board,” motto and strictly went after defense.

Not since 2004 had Green Bay started out their draft with three consecutive defensive players. This year, they spent an unheard of six straight picks on the defensive side of the ball and even parted ways with three picks in order to trade up.

Here’s a look and a brief analysis of each of the Packers’ eight draft picks:

Michael Jordan

The Charlotte Bobcats could not have had a worse season. Actually, if winning 7 of 66 games isn’t embarrassing enough, it would be even more embarrassing if the Bobcats didn’t end up getting the #1 pick in the June draft. This team has a lot of improving to do and it starts with cleaning house.
